Contrary what many people think, the former Braves center didn't get his nickname because he was the leader of the Shikellamy Braves in early 70's. He was named after the famed Celtics center. The Shikellamy and Bloomsburg State College grad is on the Braves all-time leading scorer list and was a two time Susquehanna Valley League All Star. In 1971, "The Chief" served as the Braves Co-Captain. Not only was Dave a standout in basketball but in football as well. He was twice listed as a League Honorable Mention at offensive and defensive tackle. After college, Dave worked as a football coach from 1979 to 1998. He is the Lady Braves assistant basketball coach and Shikellamy JV Girls coach. "The Chief" joined Kevin Herr in the broadcast booth in winter of 1997.
