9:45 AM, Dr.
John Furia provides you with tips to maintain good mental and
physical well-being. The good doctor covers topics like nutrition,
exercise, sports medicine, injury prevention and much more.
Dr. Furia graduated from Brown, with a BS in Neural Science. He
earned his MD from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and
Sports Medicine Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.
Along with his report on WKOK, Dr. Furia serves as the Director of
Sports Medicine at Evangelical Community Hospital and he assists at
SUN Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Furia served as the team physician at the amateur and
professional level since 1990. He has served as the team physician
for: Bucknell and Rochester Universities, Houston Oilers, Houston
Astros, Houston Rockets, Rochester Americans (AHL Hockey), US
Amateur Boxing and at the high school level with Westbury and
Greece-Olympia's football teams.
Dr. Furia has also been very active in sports as a participant. He
was a three-year varsity wrestler at Brown University in 1981, 1982
and 1985. Dr. Furia was the Intramural Wrestling Champion at
Vanderbilt University in 1986 and 1987
