The Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) is offering a free 30-week course for anyone seeking a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

Ideal for those who work with, or would like to work with, young children in a licensed child care center, the training will enable participants to:

Learn to establish a healthy learning environment for children while advancing their physical and intellectual competence.

Learn to support the social and emotional development of children and establish productive relationships with families.

Gain professional opportunities and motivation for further educational opportunities while advancing in the early childhood profession.

According to the CDA Council, a Child Development Associate (CDA) is an individual who has successfully completed the CDA assessment process and has been awarded the CDA credential. CDAs are able to meet the specific needs of children and work with parents and other adults to nurture children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth in a child development framework.

The 120-hour program begins September 14. Completion of the training allows participants to apply for the CDA credential. For more information, go to www.csiu.org/cda or contact Karen Troutman at 523-1155, ext. 2229 by August 31
