COAL TOWNSHIP — Three ATV riders injured in two separate crashes in Coal township were transported, one by Life Flight helicopter, to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. The News Item reports Coal Township police responded to the first crash , which occurred on a dirt road off of State Route 2026 in the Coal Run area around noon on . Police said that two people were thrown from an ATV after the operator reportedly lost control about a mile from the paved roadway. The operator, a 21-year-old male from Kulpmont, who was not identified, sustained a possible head injury. The passenger, an 11-year-old male from Kulpmont, suffered a leg injury. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Police also responded to an ATV crash on Industrial Park Road just after 2pm. The operator had been thrown from an ATV after he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and was ejected. They said that 46 year old Edgardo Colon-LLuveras, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Area Services EMS and Elysburg Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a landing zone. Life Flight then flew the patient to GMC. Citations will be issued.. The Coal Township Fire Department assisted at both scenes.
