ALLENWOOD — A 27-year-old Canadian man already serving time for plotting an ISIS-inspired terror attack in New York City has pleaded guilty to assaulting two corrections officers at the US Penitentiary in Allenwood.
Federal prosecutors say Abdulrahman El Bahnasawy used a steel desk part as a weapon during a 2020 attack, stabbing one officer in the head and face and another in the hand. Authorities say a note found in his sock read, “This is a terrorist attack for the Islamic State.”
One officer lost his right eye. Bahnasawy now faces up to 130 additional years in prison. The FBI investigated the case, and sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.
