SUNBURY — A mayday was called during a night house fire in Sunbury, and two firefighters were injured. Crews responded around 10:30pm to 63 Catawissa Avenue for what officials describe as a working fire. According to fire officials and WNEP, flames broke out in a vacant property.
One firefighter fell from the second floor into the main fire room after the floor gave way, prompting a mayday call. Officials say he was able to stand and continue working. Two firefighters were taken to the hospital after one was struck by falling debris and another twisted an ankle. The cause remains under investigation.
