WASHINGTON — US Senator John Fetterman voted against advancing a war powers resolution limiting military strikes on Iran. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the measure would have required congressional approval before additional action.
Sen. Fetterman was the only Democrat to oppose the resolution. The vote followed recent US and Israeli missile strikes on Iran. The resolution, introduced by US Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia, failed 47 to 53. Officials say the measure needed 60 votes to advance in the US Senate.
Sen. Fetterman says preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons requires decisive action. The US House is expected to consider a similar resolution.
