SUNBURY — A Northumberland County jury has acquitted a Mount Carmel man of felony strangulation charges. The Daily Item reports the verdict came morning after less than 30 minutes of deliberation.
Jurors found Richard Brooks not guilty of strangulation and unlawful restraint tied to a incident in Mount Carmel. However, the jury did convict Brooks of misdemeanor simple assault and a summary harassment charge.
Northumberland County District Attorney Michael O’Donnell prosecuted the case. Judge Frank Garrigan presided over the trial at the Northumberland County Courthouse.
