PHILADELPHIA — A 49-year-old Lewisburg man has died after being found unresponsive in a federal detention center. US Department of Justice officials say Rocco Scolamacchia Jr. was discovered around 11:10am at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia.
Officials say staff began life-saving efforts and called emergency services before he was taken to a hospital. They say he was later pronounced dead. Authorities say Scolamacchia had been held at the facility since under pretrial status.
He was recently charged in federal court with conspiracy to receive and distribute child pornography. The case involved alleged online activity between and in Chester County.
