DANVILLE — Danville Area School District officials say a tax increase may be needed to balance next year’s budget. The Press Enterprise reports, the proposal calls for a 3.5 percent hike, the maximum allowed by the state.
Business Manager Lance Mabus told the board the nearly $51 million budget includes a nearly $600,000 shortfall. He says the increase could generate about $599,079 in additional revenue.
Officials say a $150,000 home could increase from about $63. The board plans a preliminary vote , with final approval scheduled for . The proposal follows months of budget meetings and includes debt service, capital reserve funding, and budgetary reserves.
