YORK — WellSpan Health’s longtime leader is preparing to step down after guiding what the health system says were ‘years of expansion and innovation.’ A news release indicates, president and CEO Roxanna Gapstur will retire after a transition period following her tenure that began in 2019.
The corporation says the board has launched a national search for Gapstur’s successor while she remains in place. Under her leadership, WellSpan grew from an eight-hospital system to 12 hospitals and expanded into 12 counties.
They say the organization also increased its patient base to more than one million and strengthened clinical innovation efforts. Board leaders say Gapstur helped position WellSpan for long-term success in a changing healthcare environment. WellSpan owns Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.
