HARRISBURG — Residents across the state are encouraged to safely dispose of unused medications . The Drug Enforcement Administration says National Prescription Drug Take Back Day runs from 10am to 2pm.
Officials say the effort targets expired or unwanted prescriptions to prevent misuse and addiction. You can get more information on the state’s ‘take back’ website HERE.
The Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs says keeping unused opioids at home can be dangerous. They encourage residents to use designated take-back boxes and remove personal information before disposal. Officials say items like pills, patches, and vitamins are accepted, but syringes, inhalers, and illegal drugs are not.
