SHAMOKIN — A fast-moving fire tore through several Shamokin row homes morning, displacing families and injuring several people. Media reports indicate one person was flown to a burn unit after suffering serious injuries.
Fire crews were dispatched around 8:30am to the 1000 block of North Franklin Street. Officials say heavy flames spread quickly, prompting a three-alarm response for additional manpower.
Authorities say four homes were damaged, leaving about a dozen people displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting those impacted by the fire. Police say two firefighters suffered minor injuries during the response. The cause remains under investigation and is not considered suspicious.
