MOUNT CARMEL — A 54-year-old Shamokin man remains jailed after allegedly threatening police officers and a Northumberland County judge. NorthcentralPA.com is reporting that police say Bart Hess made the threats after being evicted from an apartment in Shamokin.
Investigators say Hess allegedly sent text messages claiming he had guns, body armor, and planned revenge against law enforcement and a magistrate. Court documents say Hess also allegedly discussed attacking courthouse security guards.
Shamokin Police notified county court officials and prosecutors following the threats. Hess is charged with terroristic threats and retaliation against a judicial official. Bail was set at $250,000.
