DANVILLE — Veterans groups in Danville and Riverside are inviting community volunteers next week to help place flags at local veterans’ gravesites ahead of Memorial Day. Organizers say the annual tradition helps honor military service members buried in the area and prepares cemeteries for holiday observances.
Flag placement at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Danville is planned for this Tuesday, May 19 at 6pm. Volunteers in Riverside will gather Wednesday, May 20 at 6pm at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
Danville’s Memorial Day activities will follow Monday, May 25, including a parade beginning near Riverfront Park and an 11am ceremony at Memorial Park in Danville. If you have questions, contact the Montour County office of Veterans Affairs.
