DANVILLE — Montour County officials are asking for you…any and all volunteers to help at a temporary shelter for former Danville Suites residents. The Valley Township rental property was recently shut down because of mold and other conditions, leaving dozens of people and pets homeless.
Karla Alexander, the director of AGAPE said, if someone can’t do an eight-hour shift in the shelter, they’ll work around that and accommodate all schedules and lengths of shifts.
Officials say 32 people are staying at the Woodbine Lane shelter, including 5 children. The resident’s range in age from 6 months old to 68 years old.
AGAPE, The Gate House, Berwick Area Transitional Services, Geisinger, the Red Cross and County Animal Response Team are helping. To help in any way, call Good Samaritan Mission at 570-594-7753. (Deanna Force, WPGM News)
