DANVILLE — Talen Energy is pursuing permits to add two new natural-gas-fired generating units at its Montour power plant in Derry Township. The company notified Montour County commissioners this week and says the project is still in the early stages.
Talen says the proposed units would generate electricity more efficiently. The company says the new units could help support projected increases in power demand. The permitting process is expected several years.
Commissioners said a 30-day public comment period began when the county received Talen’s letter . Comments can be sent to the DEP Regional Air Quality Program Manager in Williamsport. The commissioners said the letter will be posted on the Montour County website for public review.
