SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP — Pennsylvania State Police in Stonington investigated a shooting in Northumberland County this weekend. Troopers were called to 35 Short Road in Shamokin Township around 1:30pm . 18-year old Ryan Costa of Danville reportedly got into a verbal altercation with 46-year old Kyle Kent of Danville. During that altercation, State Police say Costa picked up a shot gun that was nearby and shot Kent in the abdomen and hand.
Costa fled the home after the altercation. He was subsequently located, interviewed and charged with Attempted Criminal Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault and Recklessly Endangering. He was lodged in the Northumberland County Prison and is awaiting arraignment through Magisterial District Judge William Zalinkski.
The victim, Kyle Kent was transported to Geisinger and is expected to recover from his injuries.
