Union County Pennsylvania Sheriff’s Office says thank you to the Susquehanna Trail Animal Hospital for services provided to canine River, especially to Dr. Tristan Wilhelm for his generous partnership
LEWISBURG — The Union County Sheriff’s Office has added a new K-9 team to its ranks. Officials say Deputy Josh Heath and River, an 8-month-old yellow Labrador Retriever, will work as a drug detection team.
The sheriff’s office says Deputy Heath joined the department in 2024 and became full time earlier this year. Deputy Heath and River are scheduled for specialized training in South Carolina beginning in September.
Officials say River will help detect illegal drugs in places where controlled substances are prohibited. The K-9 team will also be seen at the courthouse, community events, and patrol operations across Union County.
