DELAWARE TOWNSHIP — The heat wave continues and it brought some strong storms Friday, and a new weather record.
Route 405 is back open in Northumberland County after low-hanging wires closed part of the highway Friday night. PennDOT says the closure was between Route 44 in Dewart and West Brimmer Avenue in Watsontown. The wires were reported near the Warrior Run Fire Department. The road reopened after 9pm.
Power outages were also reported across the region late Friday night. As of midnight, PPL listed 1,966 outages in Northumberland County, 1,000 in Schuylkill County, 94 each in Columbia and Lycoming counties, and 44 in Union County.
Temperatures hit 100 at the Williamsport Regional Airport, which tied a record set in 1966. Penn Valley Airport near Selinsgrove set a new record of 97, the old record was 96 in 1034. It was 95 State College.
