ELYSBURG — Knoebels Amusement Resort marked its 100th anniversary Saturday with a ceremony honoring the park’s history, family leadership, employees and generations of guests. The celebration followed Friday’s unveiling of a bronze statue honoring founders Henry and Hattie Knoebel.
Speakers noted the park’s centennial came as the nation marked its 250th birthday. National Amusement Park Historical Association historian Jim Futtrell said only about 1% of nearly 5,000 U.S. amusement parks have reached 100 years.
Park President Brian Knoebel thanked employees, guests and family members for helping preserve the park across generations. The celebration concludes Sunday with a golf tournament, time capsule opening and museum ribbon-cutting.
