HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania anglers will face a larger minimum size for keeping trout beginning . The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has increased the statewide harvest minimum from seven inches to nine inches. The change is aimed largely at protecting Pennsylvania’s native brook trout.
Commission research found only a small percentage of wild brook trout reach even seven inches. Officials say the new rule could protect more than 99 percent of wild brook trout from harvest.
