WILLIAMSPORT — PennLive is reporting… A federal judge has approved payments to more than 11,000 central Pennsylvania healthcare workers in a 28-and-a-half-million-dollar settlement. The case involved allegations that Geisinger and the former Evangelical Community Hospital had an agreement not to recruit each other’s employees.
Judge Matthew Brann approved distribution after 11,252 workers were found eligible. Payments will average about 1,500 dollars, with a minimum of 250 dollars and some reaching 28,000.
The hospitals denied wrongdoing and settled without admitting liability. After legal fees and other expenses, about 16-point-4-million dollars remains for distribution. Eligible workers were employed between 2014 and 2020 in six area counties.
