LEWISBURG — The Standard Journal is reporting… The Union County Commissioners join the long list of leaders asking the state to adopt a budget. The board adopted a formal resolution urging state lawmakers and the governor to pass the state’s budget without further delay.
The board cites years of repeated financial disruption that have directly impacted local governments and essential services. The delays have required counties to borrow funds, delay payments, or suspend projects and services.
The Standard Journal quotes Commissioner Chairman Preston Boop, “This is telling the folks in Harrisburg that we’re not going to tell them how to do their budget, we’re just going to tell them to do it.”
