BELLEFONTE — A former township secretary from Union County has been sentenced to prison for stealing more than half a million dollars in public funds. SpotlightPA is reporting 56-year-old Pamela Hackenburg of Gregg Township admitted to using township funds for sports betting, trips, and personal expenses.
Centre County Judge Katherine Oliver sentenced her to two to four years in state prison, two years of probation, and ordered restitution of more than $615,000. Township residents told the court Hackenburg’s theft left them stressed, betrayed, and struggling financially. Hackenburg apologized, citing a gambling addiction.
