SHAMOKIN DAM — According to the Daily Item, state environmental officials are seeking public comment on an air quality plan tied to expanded operations at the Hummel Station power plant. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection is reviewing plans to increase capacity at three natural gas turbines.
The Daily Item reports PJM approved a 32-megawatt upgrade earlier this year. Capital Power recently bought the plant and announced plans to support AI data centers. No hearing is scheduled, but one may be requested. Comments are due . Documents are available through DEP’s Williamsport office.
