HARRISBURG — In Harrisburg, Representative Michael Stender announced more than $332,000 in grants for local fire and EMS companies.
He says the funding supports first responders across the 108th District in Montour and Northumberland counties.
Rep. Stender says the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program helps first responders maintain equipment, training, and facilities. The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner administer the program.
Officials say eligible uses include construction, renovations, equipment purchases, recruitment, and debt reduction. They say funding comes from slot machine gaming revenue, not General Fund tax dollars. Most area fire companies received funds from the grant program.
