SELINSGROVE — Former Vice President Mike Pence spoke about civic education and political respect during a lecture at Susquehanna University. The 66-year-old addressed students inside the Degenstein Center Theater during a moderated discussion. He encouraged students to respect others despite differing political views.
Pence said serving as the 48th vice president was an enormous privilege. He said being sworn in reminded him of his grandfather who immigrated from Ireland. He urged graduates to seek experience and knowledge over money in their first jobs. He also said the country could use more civic education.
