NORTHUMBERLAND — New state funding will support industrial site development and cleanup around here.
· In Northumberland County, officials say DRIVE will receive about $5.75 million to prepare more than 100 acres in Point Township. The work includes grading, utility relocation, and installation of a 125,000-gallon water tank. This is DRIVE’s former Encina recycling site.
· In Schuylkill County, officials say more than $3.1 million will improve a 26-acre parcel in Foster Township’s Highridge Business Park.
· In Columbia County, officials say nearly $936,000 will help demolish two asbestos-contaminated buildings at the Berwick Industrial Development Association complex. The buildings total 14,400 square feet and will clear space for future development.
State officials say the projects aim to create shovel-ready sites and attract new jobs.
