WILLIAMSPORT — A federal jury has awarded nearly $300,000 to a former Montoursville baseball coach who lost an eye during batting practice. PennLive.com reports 52-year-old Corey Twigg was struck by a batted ball in 2018.
Jurors found the protective L-screen net behind him was defective when it left the manufacturer and distributor. PennLive.com reports the jury awarded Twigg nearly $300,000 for medical costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
The jury determined Twigg and distributor BSN Sports were each 40 percent responsible for the injury. The manufacturer Garware Technical Fibres was found 20 percent responsible. Twigg and his wife have asked the judge to increase the damages or order a new trial.
