SUNBURY — Sunbury officials are working to install a Safe Haven Baby Box at the police department, offering a last-resort option for safely surrendering an infant. WNEP reports Mayor Josh Brosious says the idea follows last summer’s tragedy in Milton.
They say the box allows anonymous surrender, triggering an alert so officers can respond immediately and provide care.
Officials say the project could cost between $15,000 and $30,000, with grant funding being explored. Brosious says the city will begin with one box and may consider expanding to other communities if demand and funding support it.
