MIDDLEBURG — A Snyder County teenager has completed a major effort to restore a historic veterans memorial. 17-year-old Ethan Bobb of Middleburg led the project as his Eagle Scout effort. Bobb says the work was inspired by seeing the deteriorating building daily and wanting to preserve it for future generations.
The Snyder County Soldiers Memorial dates back to the post-Civil War era and honors local service members. The project included a new roof, concrete repairs, painting, interior cleaning, and ceiling replacement. Bobb says the effort is now complete and fully funded, cost about $200,000.
The Snyder County Historical Society will highlight the work during a public program at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, followed by an open house at the memorial.
