SHAMOKIN — The News-Item reports a Shamokin man allegedly threatened law enforcement and a district judge, prompting heightened security at a county building. Police say 54-year-old Bart Hess made statements about becoming a mass shooter and targeting a local magistrate.
According to the report, Hess told his sister he had weapons and planned revenge after an eviction ruling. Investigators say a security guard also heard similar threats at the Northumberland County Career and Arts Center. Police charged Hess with terroristic threats and retaliation against a judicial officer, and he is jailed on $250,000 bail.
