SUNBURY — Northumberland County Sheriff Robert Wolfe says he will retire at the end of May after nearly four decades in law enforcement. The News Item is reporting…Sheriff Wolfe made the announcement during a Northumberland County Prison Board meeting.
He says he wants more time with his family and grandchildren. Wolfe began his career as a Shamokin police officer in 1989 and later served in New Berlin, Zerbe Township, and the sheriff’s office.
Former Governor Tom Corbett appointed Wolfe sheriff in 2014 following the resignation of Chad Reiner. Wolfe says Chief Deputy Curtis Cooke will serve out the remainder of his term. The next sheriff’s election is scheduled for 2027.
