WAYNE — Military veterans now have designated parking spaces at every Pennsylvania Turnpike service plaza across the state. Turnpike officials announced the new program Monday following Armed Forces Day celebrations.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission says all 17 service plazas now feature two veterans parking spaces. Officials say veterans do not need a special placard or designation to use the spots.
The initiative was developed with Representative Jennifer O’Mara, the Pennsylvania American Legion, and American Legion Post 329 in Elizabethtown. Turnpike CEO Mark Compton says the parking spaces are a small token of appreciation for those who served in the US military.
