The Daily Item reports Sunbury police say crime is down in the city. Police Chief Brad Slack tells the newspaper crime is down and especially violent crime. Slack tells the Daily Item although call volume is up, they are handling smaller offenses and he is happy to report that violent crime is trending down heading into the summer. In a recent report to city council, Slack said 2,660 of the approximately 5,000 calls they received resulted in calls for service. Slack said 31 arrests were made and only 12 resulted in felony charges.
