MIDDLEBURG — Snyder County is making a leadership change in its emergency management department. The Daily Item reports commissioners voted to fire EMA Director Derick Shambach. Shambach had worked for the county for 21 years. He was hired as a 911 dispatcher in 2005 and became EMA director in 2009.
Commissioner Chairman Joe Kantz says the county needs a change and must manage emergency assets to their fullest potential. The firing follows months of complaints about support, responsiveness and absences. The Daily Item reports the county will immediately begin searching for a replacement.
