SUNBURY — There is a slight change in PennDOT’s scheme for the Priestley and Edison Bridge work set for the next three weeks.
PennDOT says a Route 405 southbound detour will begin Monday for drivers traveling from Northumberland to Sunbury. Southbound drivers will be detoured through Shamokin Dam and across the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Northbound traffic will continue across the Priestley and Edison bridges, but drivers may see delays.
The update: PennDOT says crews are switching to overnight work because of warm temperatures in the forecast next week.
Crews will apply an epoxy overlay, replace bridge seals, and add pavement markings. PennDOT says the overlay needs cooler temperatures and time to cure before traffic can return.
Access to the marina, businesses and homes will be maintained through the detour. PennDOT says the bridges will not be fully closed, and pedestrian and bicycle sidewalks will remain open.
