HARRISBURG — State Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver is pushing for stronger protections for older adults and care-dependent Pennsylvanians. Culver joined Journey to Justice for an elder abuse awareness event at the state Capitol. The event was held ahead of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15. Culver says older Pennsylvanians deserve protection from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harm. The package includes Alice’s Law, which would establish an Elder Abuse Registry.
Other measures would increase penalties for abuse and create an employment review process for direct-care workers. Union-Snyder Agency on Aging Protective Services Supervisor Kimberly Campbell also took part along with the local founders of Journey to Justice.
