ASHLAND — Funeral services have been announced for State Trooper Michael Pahira Junior, who was killed Wednesday in the line of duty. Services will be held Wednesday, July 8, at 11 a.m. at the North Schuylkill High School Auditorium in Ashland.
A public visitation will be held there from 8 to 10 a.m. Family members say graveside services will be private for family, close friends, and fellow state police members.
The family is asking first responders and community members to line Centre Street in Ashland for the funeral procession. Memorial contributions will support a wrestling scholarship in Trooper Pahira’s name.

DHS Says Trooper Crash Suspect Was In U.S. Illegally
CASS TOWNSHIP — A federal official says the Massachusetts truck driver charged in the crash that killed Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Pahira was in the United States illegally. The Department of Homeland Security official says 33-year-old Michael Bon is a Haitian national whose parole ended in June 2025.
The official says ICE has lodged an immigration detainer against Bon after his arrest. They say Bon first entered the U.S. as a Customs and Border Protection parolee in July 2024. He is charged with homicide by vehicle and other counts.
