SHAMOKIN — Regional businessman, first respondent, and longtime community leader William “Billy” Milbrand has died unexpectedly. Milbrand owned Catawese Coach Lines and also served as chief of Independence Fire Company, a fire company board member, Shamokin mayor and city council member.
Friends and colleagues say Milbrand was known for helping others and giving his time to the community. He also cared for the Shamokin cemetery, was active in his church and local community band, and had a lifelong love of trains. Catawese Coach Lines announced his death and offered condolences to his family, friends and community.
