MIFFLINBURG — The Union County Purple Heart Monument will be rededicated at noon Friday, August 7, at Mifflinburg Community Park. The monument was moved earlier this summer to the World War II Memorial area along North Fifth Street.
The ceremony will be held on National Purple Heart Day and will honor area recipients from all military branches and wars. It will include bagpiper Bernie Jespersen, local and state officials, a keynote speaker, and musician KJ Reimesnyder-Wagner. The George H. Ramer Medal of Honor Chapter 656 will host its annual picnic afterward.
