SELINSGROVE — A statewide outbreak of a disease is spreading…to our area.
A Snyder County resident tested positive for measles and may have exposed shoppers at a Monroe Township store. The state Health Department says the possible exposure happened at Lowe’s near Selinsgrove. They say anyone inside between 1 and 5pm may have been exposed.
Unvaccinated people face the highest risk of infection. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a rash beginning on the face. Symptoms may appear seven to 21 days after exposure.
People with symptoms should contact their health care provider before visiting an office, 877-PA-HEALTH or visit pa.gov/measles. The state Health Department says, thanks to lower vaccination rates, so far 114 cases of measles have been reported in Pennsylvania this year.
