FREEBURG — The Northcentral Pennsylvania Conservancy says partners completed a streambank stabilization project along Susquehecka Creek in Snyder County. The creek runs along Route 35 between Freeburg and Kantz.
Severe erosion had created a drop of nearly six feet along portions of the landowner’s half-mile stretch. The Snyder County Conservation District coordinated materials and arranged deliveries.
The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission handled the project’s design and construction oversight. State grant funding helped cover the project costs.
Crews installed mudsills and replaced the steep bank with a gentler slope. Officials say the improvements will slow high water, increase ground absorption and reduce erosion.
