Pennsylvania has confirmed 139 measles cases, including six in Northumberland County and one each in Snyder and Mifflin counties. Snyder County’s case was reported , when state health officials said people may have been exposed at Lowe’s near Selinsgrove.
State numbers released show 29 new cases during the past seven days. Lancaster County leads Pennsylvania with 83 cases, followed by Chester County with 14. Health officials say none of those infected were vaccinated.
Twenty-five patients have been hospitalized, and about one-third are younger than 18. No deaths have been reported in Pennsylvania. Measles spreads through the air, and symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes, and a rash.
