SHAMOKIN — A piece of Shamokin’s industrial history is being restored after a plaque at the Eagle Silk Mill memorial was found on the ground. The News-Item reports city workers recovered the plaque after concerns it had been stolen. Street Department Foreman Kevin Richardson says workers repaired the plaque.
He says crews could not determine whether someone removed it or whether it simply broke loose. The plaque tells the story of the former Eagle Silk Mill, once a major local employer. The News-Item reports it is expected to be reinstalled soon.
