LEWISBURG — Twenty-five years after the attacks, local firefighters want a new generation to remember those who died.
William Cameron Engine Company Deputy Chief Harold Erdley Jr. says a 34.3-mile memorial march will honor 343 FDNY firefighters killed on , 2001.
The march begins near Weikert at 4 a.m. and travels through Glen Iron, Laurelton, Hartleton, Millmont, Mifflinburg, New Berlin and Dry Valley before reaching Lewisburg. Firefighters from Union, Snyder and upper Northumberland counties have been invited, and the public may also participate.
Marchers will pause several times to remember individual firefighters killed on 9/11. There is no cost to participate, but donations are encouraged for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. More information is available Deputy Chief Harold E. Erdley, Jr. at 570-524-2291.
